Amundsen (Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen) was born on July 16, 1872 in the Ostpol Borge area.

Amundsen explored the South and North Poles.

He was the first person in the world to reach the South Pole in 1911.

He died on June 18, 1928 in Svalbard.
