Thor Heyerdahl was born on October 6, 1914 in the city of Larvik.

Heyerdahl loved animals and nature as a child.

In 1937, he studied zoology at the University of Oslo.

In 1947, he sailed 8,000 km across the Pacific Ocean on the Kon-Tiki ship.

Heyerdahl died on April 10, 2002.
