Søren Rasmusen

Søren Rasmusen was headmaster of the Christiania Cathedral School from 1797.
In 1813, Søren Rasmusen was appointed professor of applied mathematics at the University of Oslo.
Søren Rasmusen's lectures on equations, differential and integral calculus were attended by Bernt Michael Holmboe and Niels Henrik Abel.

Christopher Hansteen conducted research on the Earth's magnetic field in 1811.
Christopher Hansteen was hired as a teacher of applied mathematics at the newly founded Christiania University (Oslo University) in 1813, and was appointed professor of astronomy and applied mathematics in 1814.
Christopher Hansteen studied magnetism, northern lights, meteorology, and astronomy, and built an astronomical observatory in Oslo.
