[Greece] Day 2 of the Greek Historic site Tour |
We are going from Athens to Sparta today.
We went to the restaurant at the hotel to eat breakfast, and the breakfast was so good that we felt good.
We slept well in the hotel room, and the breakfast was so good that we felt good. Next time I come to Greece, I want to make a reservation at the Plaka Hotel.
After eating a delicious breakfast and checking out in a good mood, we had to walk to the bus stop near the Omonia subway station to catch the number 51 bus to Athens Bus Terminal A.
We left the hotel and looked around Athens, and suddenly the Parthenon temple on the Acropolis appeared in our sight. It was so beautiful.
As we walked around Athens, we saw many Byzantine cultural sites from the 5th century (401~500) to the 10th century (901~1000), the largest traditional market in Athens, and the Athens city hall.
Since today is Sunday, many stores are closed.
We were waiting for bus number 51 at the bus stop without realizing it, but there were pedestrians around the Omonia bus stop who showed the Athenian atmosphere. We got on the bus, but the conversation between the passenger who seemed to have evaded the fare and the bus staff who were checking the tickets continued, and the bus staff who saw us asked us to show them our tickets. After showing them, we sat quietly on the bus, and the bus passengers and the bus staff got off.
We enjoyed our bus trip to Athens while looking at the ruins of Plato's Academy on the way to Athens Bus Terminal A.
We went to Athens Bus Terminal A (Ktel Bus Station Terminal A) and tried to buy a bus ticket for 1 adult and 1 youth to Sparta, but they said it was not possible because we were over 6 years old, so we paid the adult fare of 21.5 euros X 2 = 43 euros and bought the bus ticket.
From now on, I thought I should buy tickets for 2 adults when traveling to Greece.
On the way to Sparta, we saw the Corinth Canal and the Corinth Acropolis on the mountain. And after passing through Tripoli Bus Terminal and passing through downtown Tripoli, we saw Tripoli Train Station. If Tripoli Train Station was still in operation, we would have taken the train to Tripoli.
After arriving in Sparta, we had to eat lunch, but first we headed to the Temple of Artemis to see the Temple of Artemis, the goddess of hunting, forests, and the moon.
We saw a large supermarket on the way to the Temple of Artemis, so we tried to go in just in case, but the door was tightly closed. This is because today is Sunday, so the supermarket is not open.
We were heading to the Temple of Artemis while looking at the sign showing the way to the Temple of Artemis, but there was a lot of trash on the way, and the trash smelled bad, and as we kept walking, suddenly a Greek person behind us told us not to go that way, and although we didn't know what was going on, he told us not to go, so we didn't go, and honestly, we were very scared.
The next day, we found out from the hotel manager that the Temple of Artemis was home to gypsies who were scarier than the ruins. We also heard that if you get caught by a gypsy, you'll lose everything.
The only reason I wanted to go to the Temple of Artemis was because it was the largest sanctuary in Sparta.
I really didn't want to see such an unmanaged ruin like the Temple of Artemis. I think it was a good thing that I trusted the Greeks and didn't go to the ruins.
First, we ate pizza at The Mafia restaurant in the center of Sparta, then saw the tomb of Leonidas, the hero of Sparta, and the site of the Byzantine domed church, and then headed to the Acropolis of Sparta.
Since there was no admission fee to the Acropolis of Sparta, I was worried that it was not well managed and that there were gypsies there. Fortunately, the Acropolis seemed to be managed to some extent.
Around 3pm, a manager on a motorcycle came and told us to leave because it was time, so I thought that the Acropolis was managed to some extent.
Back in the center of Sparta, I went to ΕΜΠΑ ΣΤΟ ΨΗΤΟ, a gyros specialty restaurant next to the pizza place I had eaten at earlier, and had pork and chicken gyros. They were really delicious.
This was the end of a terrible day. Honestly, just thinking about it was terrible.
My happy trip to Greece almost turned into a terrible trip to Greece.
I learned that it is better to refrain from visiting tourist attractions other than the main tourist attractions in Greece.
