[Greece] Day 3 of the Greek Historic site Tour
We are planning to go to the ruins of Mystras today.

Our travel plans are always put into action, so it was raining heavily since dawn, but we were conflicted about whether we should go or not, even though we brought our umbrellas and watched the heavy rain in front of the hotel.

We came to Sparta, Greece, so we had to go~~~ We are going to the ruins of Mystras, a world cultural heritage site.

As we left the hotel, the rain started to pour down even harder. I thought Sparta was flooded.

The walk from the hotel to the bus terminal at 6:30 felt like escaping a flooded town.

Even with an umbrella, the rain kept pouring down, and even with shoes on, we were exhausted and our bags were empty.

There were many difficult times. The water overflowed in the middle, and our pants got soaked with rain, so it was so hard that we couldn't walk.

I thought my son would have a harder time than his father.
Fortunately, we walked slowly like a turtle and arrived at the bus terminal around 7:00.

We took the bus to the Mystras ruins at 7:20 and paid 2 euros x 2 = 4 euros.
About 30 minutes later, we arrived at the bus stop for the Mystras ruins.
We tried to enter the Mystras ruins around 8:00, but the staff said it would open at 8:30, so we had to wait. My son, who was waiting in the rain, said he wanted to use the bathroom, so we asked if the bathroom was inside the Mystras ruins and where it was. Fortunately, the bathroom was outside the Mystras ruins, so we could do our business easily. It was raining hard and the weather was getting colder. Even when we asked them to please open the Mystras ruins so that we could enter, they just told us to wait because they would open at 8:30.
After 8:30, the Mystras ruins opened and we were able to enter Mystras. Today is winter, so we paid 6 euros x 2 = 12 euros to enter the ruins, and when we suddenly asked if there was a map, they kindly told us that we could install an app, so we installed the app and started the tour of the Mystras ruins.

It was still raining heavily, so we were the only tourists.
We took out raincoats for the Mystras tour at the Mystras entrance ticket booth and put them on. It was nice that we could block the cold and the rain because we wore raincoats.

As we walked through the rain, we saw the Mystras ruins where Byzantine culture is alive and well, and while thoroughly preparing for war, we saw how the importance of religion had a great influence on war. We also heard an explanation because the murals in the church in Mystras were important.

If the rain had stopped, the Mystras ruins tour would have been fun, but we felt regretful and went up higher. Because the buses arriving at the Mystras bus stop arrive at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00, we decided to take the 12:00 bus rather than the 10:00 bus. Because we didn't know when we would be able to visit the Mystras ruins again.

We finally reached the top. Looking down from the top, we saw a really great view. And when we looked at the other side where the Mystras walls were, it was a cliff. But the view was so great.

It took about an hour to go from the entrance of the Mystras ruins to the castle on the top of the mountain.

It rained a lot on the way down from the Mystras ruins, so it was slippery.

Fortunately, we came down carefully.

We arrived at the bus stop at 11:30 and decided to wait for the bus. Because we had to wait 2 hours if we missed the bus. Fortunately, the bus arrived at exactly 12:00.

Sparta → Mystras 7:20, 9:20, 10:20, 12:20
Mystras → Sparta 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 (2:00 PM)

After arriving in downtown Sparta, we decided to have lunch at The Mafia Pizza restaurant where we had lunch yesterday and then go sightseeing in downtown Sparta.

On the way back to the hotel after lunch, we wanted to buy a Spartan postcard, so we checked if the souvenir shop was open and left after unpacking our bags at the hotel, but the souvenir shop was also closed.

We couldn't help it, so we bought snacks at the largest supermarket in Sparta and then went to the Spartan Archaeological Museum. Fortunately, it was open until 3:30, so we were able to tour the museum.

There were many statues in the museum. The one I saw was Tyche, the goddess of luck.
But then suddenly, they said it was open until 3:00 and told us to go to the museum. What is this~~~ Even when I asked to take a few more pictures, they just told me to hurry up and leave.

I was kicked out of the museum without a second thought.

However, the museum was small but fun.

Especially, when you think of Sparta, you can only think of Leonidas.

We left the museum and headed to the second largest supermarket in Sparta. We walked there with the expectation that they might sell Spartan postcards.

However, contrary to expectations, we didn't see any postcards.

There were hardly any souvenir shops anywhere in downtown Sparta.

After finishing our tour of downtown Sparta, we ate the Gyros we had yesterday for dinner and returned to the hotel.

Fortunately, the rain started to let up in the afternoon.

When I got into the hotel, I looked at the map of Sparta and asked the hotel staff about tourist attractions, and how to get to the Temple of Artemis.

Then the hotel staff was surprised and said that the Temple of Artemis and the sanctuary were the only places where the general public or tourists could go. The people who live there are gypsies who believe in Artemis, so if you enter by mistake, they will take everything away. I was so scared when I heard that story.
Yesterday, I almost became a beggar and lived in Sparta. Thinking about yesterday, I could only be grateful to the Greek who helped me. It seems like there really is no such coincidence.
How did a car appear when I was almost entering the Temple of Artemis? I thought, why are you going there? I thought it was the owner of the place because I was so scared that I didn't go.

We went to the ΕΜΠΑ ΣΤΟ ΨΗΤΟ restaurant where we had delicious gyros for dinner and ordered only one potion chicken gyros, but the restaurant staff looked at us, asking why we only ordered one. So we ordered another burger gyros from another restaurant staff. It was really delicious.

This is how we ended our trip to Sparta.
