[Greece] Day 4 of the Greek Historic site Tour |
We didn't eat breakfast at the Sparta Laconia Hotel, so we went to the first floor to check out at 6:00, but the hotel owner asked us to pay 1 euro for the city tax, so we paid 1 euro and walked to the Sparta bus terminal.
Fortunately, it wasn't raining today. However, my father's watch and my son's watch had slightly different times. My son's watch looked about 10 minutes faster than my father's.
Still, we decided to go early, wait a bit, and catch the bus, so we headed diligently to the bus terminal.
When we arrived at the bus terminal, we checked the time and saw that my father's watch was 10 minutes behind. We almost missed the 6:30 bus. Fortunately, we were able to catch the 6:30 bus to Athens.
It was a shame that we couldn't see the Temple of Artemis when we left Sparta on the 6:30 bus, but it was great that we were able to see the Mystras ruins. I think that in order for the city of Sparta to develop, it is important to manage the ruins well and turn them into a tourist city. I left Sparta with memories of Sparta, Greece, although I was wondering if I could visit the city of Sparta again.
I enjoyed the bus trip while watching the sun rise above the clouds from the bus.
We were passing Eleusis or Elefsina, which we were going to visit on Friday, and I started to wonder if we could visit the ruins of Eleusis. This is because I wondered what they would do if they didn't operate it like the ruins of Artemis in Sparta. While thinking about this and that, I went into downtown Athens, and there were many cars on the road because it overlapped with the rush hour.
The bus arrived at Athens Bus Terminal A at 10 o'clock and entered the bus terminal. In front of the bus terminal, I saw an old church that looked like a Byzantine cultural site.
We took bus number 51 from the bus terminal and arrived at Omonia bus stop. After taking tram number 12 from Omonia bus stop, we got off at Syntagma bus stop and walked to the Temple of Zeus.
After purchasing the Acropolis package at the Temple of Zeus for 30 euros x 2 = 60 euros, we toured the Temple of Zeus, took pictures outside the Panathinaiko Stadium, and then went to the Ancient Agora.
We went to Goody's Burger near the Ancient Agora for breakfast and lunch, ordered a burger set, and then headed to the Ancient Agora. My son didn't finish his cola and was about to enter the Ancient Agora, but he finished his cola and told me to enter the Ancient Agora, so I threw the cola in the trash and went into the Ancient Agora. My son got angry at his dad and didn't want to go around the Ancient Agora with him, so I told him to look around for him and come find him. My son was angry because of the cola, but my dad seemed embarrassed because he was wearing an action cam on his head and looking strange while sightseeing in the Ancient Agora.
After filming the Temple of Hephaestus with the action cam, my dad took off the action cam on his head and just took pictures in a normal manner.
My dad started looking for his son in the Ancient Agora. However, I was worried because I couldn't see my son, but I saw a turtle and was quietly watching it, and someone came up to me and said, "Dad~" and I was so thankful. The father and son were quietly watching the turtle and were walking really slowly.
From now on, the father and son were touring the Roman Agora together, taking pictures and having a good time.
Again, we decided to leave the Roman Agora and see the Tower of the Winds and started walking. It started to rain again. After seeing the Tower of the Winds, we went to the souvenir shop and bought a postcard for 0.4 euros (0.4 euros x 5 = 2 euros). First, we went to the Plaka Hotel because it was raining so much and tried to check in, but this time they asked us to pay 1.5 euros x 3 = 4.5 euros, so we paid the city tax of 4.5 euros, went to the room to unpack, packed our light luggage, and headed to the Acropolis.
On the way to the Acropolis, we decided to choose a restaurant to eat dinner at, and while walking, we came across a delicious and cheap gyros restaurant called Iliada Cafe. While thinking about eating delicious gyros for dinner, we went to the Acropolis.
We entered through the south entrance of the Acropolis. When we entered through the south entrance, we saw the Theater of Dionysus. After passing the Temple of Asclepius, we saw the Theater of Herodes Atticus. Compared to the Theater of Dionysus, the Theater of Herodes Atticus looked like a huge open-air theater.
We entered through the Beulé Gate, which leads to the Acropolis. The first thing we saw was the Temple of Athena Nike and the Monument of Agrippa, and there was a sculpture that looked like a Lego block on the Propylaea building.
The Parthenon is famous as a temple that symbolizes Athens, Greece, but it was too bad that it was still under restoration. There was the Erechtheion Temple next to the Parthenon Temple, and many tourists were taking pictures next to the tree, so we asked about it and they said that there is a legend that it was an olive tree given by the goddess Athena.
The view of the entire city of Athens from the Greek flag near the Parthenon was so beautiful.
We came down from the Acropolis around 5 o'clock to eat dinner, but the staff told us to hurry up, and we didn't know what to do, but it was open until 5 o'clock in the winter.
We came down from the Acropolis again and went to eat dinner, and there was a souvenir shop selling Giannis Antetokounmpo's Greek national basketball uniform.
First, we checked the price of the uniforms with our eyes, and went to Iliada Cafe for dinner, where we had pork gyros and chicken gyros, and returned to the hotel.
As I found out later, most stores and restaurants close at 6 o'clock.
