[Greece] Day 5 of the Greek Ruins Tour |
I had breakfast at 7 and waited for the No. 1 trolley at the Syntagma bus stop at 8, but the bus never came.
The notice board that announced the bus schedule had something in Greek, but I didn't understand it.
I thought it was strange, so I told my son to walk to the bus terminal where the bus to Cape Sounion was, and we started walking. It was a situation where it was possible to change the schedule.
When I looked at the Syntagma subway station, the entrance was tightly closed with an iron gate.
What is this? I didn't know what to do if public transportation wasn't running.
So I headed to the Athens bus terminal that goes to Cape Sounion.
On the way, there were many people preparing for a protest against the 2023 Greek railway accident. When I took a picture, they asked me to take a picture and upload it to the internet~~~
We walked for about 40 minutes and arrived at the Athens bus terminal that goes to Cape Sounion, but the bus was nowhere to be seen. I was even more confused, so I persuaded my son to go to Athens bus terminal B and decided to walk there first. But the distance was much farther than it looked. Finally, we arrived at the bus stop at the end of the trolley line 1, but there were a lot of people. Again, there were a lot of people waiting for the bus at the bus stop in front of the Attiki metro station.
Again, we walked 4 more stops from the bus stop in front of the Attiki metro station and finally arrived at the Athens Bus Terminal B.
It was really far. We found out that it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to walk from the Syntagma bus stop to the Athens Bus Terminal B.
Suddenly, a bus passed by, but there was no number and the information was written in Greek, so I couldn't understand it, but I felt like it wasn't running.
At the bus terminal ticket booth, I bought a round-trip bus ticket to Delphi, but it was a discounted price. In the end, I found out that the bus ticket was not discounted. And there was no youth discount either.
First, we were waiting for the bus, and I had the wrong information that Athens doesn't give exact change, so I asked the terminal staff because I thought the change was wrong, and they were so kind and explained it step by step, which was nice, and I was glad that I understood, but I apologized to the terminal staff (signomi). I was really sorry. The correct information is that Greeks are very good at calculating and giving change.
If you take a bus for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, you will arrive at Delphi. Before Delphi, you will pass by the town of Arahova (Αράχωβας), which is famous for the filming location of Descendants of the Sun.
I got off at Delphi and tried to see only the Delphi ruins, but the ticket cost for both the Delphi ruins and the Delphi Archaeological Museum was 6 euros, so I was forced to pay 6 euros x 2 = 12 euros and started my tour.
The Delphi ruins are the Temple of Apollo, the Treasure House of Athena, and the Omphalos, which seem to be found in most ruins in Greece. However, I didn't really know why the Delphi ruins Omphalos is famous as the navel of the world.
I also wanted to see the Delphi Ancient Stadium, but they said I couldn't enter, so I just saw the ancient theater and came down.
Then we headed to the Delphi Archaeological Museum. The museum exhibited artifacts from the ruins. Most ruins in Greece are ruins, and museums exhibit artifacts from the ruins, so if you want to see the artifacts from the ruins, I recommend visiting the museum.
What I regret is that the artifacts from the Acropolis of Athens were also exhibited at the Acropolis Museum, but I couldn't see them.
After finishing the museum tour, we went to a restaurant on the way to Delphi town to eat lunch and tried to eat pizza, but the price was more expensive than Athens. I was wondering if we could just order one pizza, but the staff suddenly asked why we only ordered one pizza and what kind of salad we wanted. I didn't like the feeling, so I just left the restaurant and tried to go to another restaurant, but most of the restaurants were closed, or the food prices were too expensive, and there were many menus that were course menus rather than single dishes. So I went to a restaurant famous for souvlaki and tried to open the door, but it was tightly closed.
I told my son to have bread for lunch, so I went to the Delphi Mart and luckily there was some delicious bread there. I bought some bread and was eating it while waiting for the bus at the bus stop near Delphi Village. Suddenly, a large dog and a cat gathered around us and started meowing and meowing. We seemed to want bread, but we kept our bread until the end.
In the end, we shared the bread for the last remaining cat.
After somewhat appeasing our hunger, we took the bus to Athens, but it started to rain again. It was raining, dark, and the roads were full of cars. My son started to feel motion sickness and it was a really hard time on the bus.
Fortunately, as soon as we arrived in Athens, we got off at the bus stop and got ready to get off.
The bus dropped us off at the ΓΕΦΥΡΑ bus stop and departed. We waited for the number 6 trolley at the ΓΕΦΥΡΑ bus stop, and there were many people around who lived in Athens but did not have a home. To be honest, I was scared. So I waited quietly for the bus to arrive and tried to quickly get on the bus, but there were already a lot of people on the bus. First, there was something I had to do to get on the Athens bus, which was to carry my bag in front of me. And as soon as I got on the bus, I was told not to be in the middle of the crowd but to stand against the wall. So I carried my bag in front of me and went to the wall near the window and stood right there. My son didn't have any luggage, so it didn't matter if he was in the middle.
We kept going to the last stop of the trolley number 6, so we stayed in that spot. We got off at the ΙΠΠΟΚΡΑΤΟΥΣ bus stop and went to eat pork gyros and chicken gyros at the Iliada cafe we had eaten at yesterday, but it was already closed. I didn't know that a restaurant that sells alcohol would close so quickly. So, after promising my son that I would buy him Pork Gyros and Chicken Gyros at Iliada Cafe for dinner tomorrow, we moved to Goody's Burger restaurant to eat chicken burgers. However, after analyzing the ordering machine at Goody's Burger for about 10 minutes, we gave up and ordered conveniently from the KFC ordering machine that we could easily buy and had a delicious dinner. The reason we went to KFC was because we could use the bathroom conveniently.
Since finding a bathroom in Athens is also a task, we went to KFC where we could eat and use the bathroom.
It was a day of passion to go to Delphi on a day when public transportation was not running.
