Intro |
The Lyceum was a temple dedicated to Apollo in Athens.
The Lyceum is known as a school of philosophy founded by the philosopher Aristotle in 334 BC.
Aristotle left Athens in 323 BC, and it continued to be run by philosophers until it was destroyed by war in 86 BC.
The ruins of the Lyceum were discovered in 1996 in a park behind the Hellenistic Parliament in the city of Athens.
